Robotics - First LEGO League
-
The Academic Innovation Department is committed to assisting campuses that have expressed interest in beginning, or expanding, Robotics programs. FIRST builds upon itself, starting at age 6 and continuing through age 16. Participants master skills and concepts to aid in learning science and technology through innovative projects and robotics competitions. The North Texas FIRST® LEGO® League robotics season for 2020-21 is gearing up for a great year of STEAM learning and exploration. Students age 4-16 will learn STEAM techniques and apply their skills in an exciting competition while building habits of learning, confidence, and teamwork along the way. The League intends to proceed virtually starting in 2021 and will provide programs for 3 different age groups:
- Discover ages 4-6
- Explore ages 6-10
- Challenge 9-16
(Please note that the overlap in age range is intentional to allow students to play up if so desired.)
This year Discover Students (age 4-6) & Explore Students (age 6-10) will become...”Playmakers”
They will step into the world of sports, play, and fitness – moving, collaborating, competing, and celebrating. In PLAYMAKERS, FIRST® LEGO® League, Discover and Explore teams will explore the activities we can do in different spaces for play and how we can ensure that our games and activities are fun and accessible for everyone involved. PLAYMAKERS will Explore!, Create and Test!, and Share!
