    SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY 

    Burleson High School is a comprehensive four-year public high school in Johnson County, Texas, located in a residential suburb of Fort Worth. The school district serves over 12,000 students in four high schools, 3 middle schools, and 10 elementary schools. Burleson High School is accredited by the Texas Education Agency and holds membership in the College Board.

    Demographics: African-American: 10%, Hispanic: 24%, White: 59%, Native American, Asian, Pacific Islander: 2.4%.

    CURRICULUM FEATURES

    The academic program is organized on a traditional schedule. Seven credits per academic year is the maximum course load; students take seven classes throughout the day. AP® courses offered: English 3, English 4, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics 1, Physics 2, Economics, Government, US History, Spanish 4, Studio Art 2D, Studio Art 3D, Studio Art Drawing, and Music Theory. Dual credit courses offered: English 3, English 4, Pre-Calculus, College Algebra, College Elementary Statistics, US History, Economics  and Government. Career and Technical Education programs offered include:  Audio Visual, Agriculture Science, Culinary Arts, Construction, Cosmetology, Education and Training, Engineering, Informational Technology, EMT, Journalism and Broadcast, Graphic Design, Health Science, Criminal Justice, Fire Academy, Business Information Management, Business Marketing and JROTC.

    CLASS RANK AND GRADE POINT AVERAGE

    GPA is computed on a 4 point scale. Due to weighted AP courses, (1.0 added to the final mark) the final grade point average may exceed 4.0. Beginning with grade nine, all subjects, whether passed or failed, are included in the computation with the exception of correspondence and pass/fail courses. Course grades receiving 3 credits shall be included three times in the averaging. A minimum of 26 credits is required for graduation. Dual Credit, AP and Pre-AP classes are weighted. Grades are recorded on the transcript and GPA is computed in January and May. Senior class honor students shall be designated at the end of the fifth six-week period of the senior year.
