Centennial High School finished 17th in the state 5A Lone Star Cup standings
June 24, 2021 – Burleson Centennial High School (CHS) ranks in the top 20 of the UIL Lone Star Cup, an annual recognition honoring the best programs in the state based on overall team achievement in district and state UIL-sanctioned championships. Students’ success in athletics, academics, and fine arts resulted in CHS placing 17th in the Class 5A UIL Lone Star Cup standings. This is the highest UIL Lone Star Cup finish for CHS.
“The UIL Lone Star Cup is reserved for an elite group of schools who perform at the highest level and this achievement is testimony to the hard work of our students, teachers, coaches, and administrators this past year,” said BISD Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “I commend all who contributed to this achievement and thank our parents and our community for their support.”
The UIL Lone Star Cup is awarded annually to six high schools, one in each of the six UIL classifications (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A and 6A), based on their team performance in district and state championships, according to UIL.
“There are 252 5A UIL schools in Texas and for Centennial High School to finish in the top 7% of all 5A is an incredible accomplishment,” said BISD Athletic Director Kevin Ozee. “This is a great measure of the success of all extracurriculars at the campus. We look forward to great things going forward.”
