BISD Names Courtney Peets as Director of Health Services

June 8, 2020 – The Burleson Independent School District (BISD) named Courtney Peets, RN, NCSN as the BISD Director of Health Services at the board meeting June 8. Currently the BISD Nursing Program Supervisor and nurse inn at Frazier Elementary, Peets has been a registered nurse for 14 years and is a Nationally Certified School Nurse. 

As Director of Health Services, Peets will manage the district nursing program while leading health practices, which include the implementation, coordination, and evaluation of health services and program administration.

In collaboration with state and local health officials, Peets will develop health and safety programs, policies, and health education curriculum while serving on the district’s school health advisory committee. 

Peets will provide expert advice to district administration and other departments regarding healthcare standards, policies, and procedures on matters impacting students, staff, and the community. 

“The health and safety of our students and staff is paramount, and Nurse Peets has established strong relationships with key health officials in Tarrant and Johnson Counties,” said Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “Nurse Peets’ exemplary work will continue as she develops health protocols and procedures, which follow the guidelines for staff returning to work.”

Upon earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Stephen F. Austin State University, Peets was a registered nurse for the Hematology/Oncology Department and the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Cook Children's. She has been a nurse in BISD for eight years. 

“It is truly an honor to continue serving Burleson ISD in this new role,” said Peets. “This is evidence of our district’s commitment to emphasizing the health and safety of our students, staff, and families.”

Peets will begin her role as BISD Director of Health Services Summer 2020.
