Burleson ISD Names Kevin Ozee as New Athletic Director
Former Athletic Director at Arlington, Carroll, and Duncanville ISDs plans to continue his success in Burleson
February 17, 2020 – The Burleson Independent School District (BISD) named Kevin Ozee as the new BISD Director of Athletics at the special board meeting February 17. Ozee, a highly successful athletic director who formerly worked in Arlington, Carroll, and Duncanville ISDs, brings 25 years of experience, more than 25 trips to State for various sports, and 19 State championship titles to his new role in Burleson.
“We wanted a pro,” said Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “We wanted the best in the business, and we believe we accomplished that with Kevin Ozee.”

Recognized by the National Association of Sports and Physical Education as the 2013 National High School Athletic Director of the Year for exemplifying the highest standards in his profession and his contributions to schools and communities, Ozee looks forward to getting back to education—his calling.
When asked about choosing Burleson, Ozee pointed to Jimerson and said, “This man’s innovative leadership style is why Burleson appealed to me. I'm inspired by Burleson's reputation for bringing innovative options to students and look forward to building upon BISD’s established athletic program while expanding on the already-present emerging sports offerings.”
Ozee and his wife Christy lived in Burleson when he began his career in Duncanville, eventually moving there and continuing the “City of Champions” tradition with championship wins. In Carroll ISD, Ozee was widely known for his focus on multi-sport success, finishing second in the 2010 UIL Lone Star Cup, honoring the best overall athletic and academic programs in Texas, followed by three consecutive wins in years following.
“I truly believe that with intentional planning, great coaching, tireless effort, and tremendous community support, all sports in Burleson ISD will play at a very high level and provide a great experience for all student-athletes,” said Ozee.
Jimerson added, “People know our BISD athletic programs are competitive. Our athletes and their coaches have worked hard in every sport to earn that reputation. We are pleased Kevin agreed to come to Burleson, and we’re excited about what he will bring to our community, coaches, and most importantly to our students.”
Ozee will begin his role as BISD Athletic Director March 2. Current Athletic Director Phil Anderson will continue overseeing sponsorships and support BISD through his role as Director of Community Partnerships.
