Burleson ISD Dedicates Burleson High School Multipurpose Facility to Students
BISD Thanks Community for Supporting Student Education
November 18, 2019 – Less than 14 months since breaking ground, the Burleson ISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson dedicated the Burleson High School multipurpose facility to the students of Burleson ISD on November 18, 2019.
This facility accommodates the growing number of students participating in extracurricular activities. It is one of four district bond projects voters approved in May 2017 to accommodate the needs of the growing district.
State Senator Beverly Powell was among community leaders who joined members of the Facilities Advisory Committee and Burleson High School students and staff at the dedication event.
“This facility is a testament to the citizens of Burleson and the heart you have for young people,” said Senator Powell. “The people of Burleson are focused on making sure our kids have the best facilities that we can provide for them, and the fact that we can pass a bond initiative to make sure we have those facilities tells me that people are willing to pay for things close to their hearts. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be involved in the dedication of this beautiful building.”
Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson thanked the many groups involved.
“I want to thank the Burleson ISD Board of Trustees who continuously work to support our students, employees, and our community,” said Dr. Jimerson. “It is through their vision and dedication to do what’s best for our students, that made this facility a reality.”
In thanking the Facilities Advisory Committee, Dr. Jimerson added, “You not only spent time addressing our needs based on student growth, but also the needs of the growing number of students who participate in extracurricular activities. I want to thank you for your persistent discussions about making this multipurpose facility happen for our students. You were instrumental in bringing it to Burleson High School.”
Dr. Jimerson also recognized the BISD project teams, Stantec Architecture, Jackson Construction, and the City of Burleson.
School Board President Andy Pickens shared remarks on behalf of trustees, noting the facility will benefit multiple student groups.
“We greatly appreciate all of those who helped to bring this facility to the students of Burleson High School,” said Pickens. “With this facility, weather will no longer impact learning and practice, and I am proud to say that it will support athletes and multiple student groups for years to come.”
Burleson High School Principal Wayne Leek also spoke, recognizing staff and welcoming attendees to the new facility before the official ribbon cutting.
