BISD Names Rebekah Hinkle Principal of Game Development Design School
Burleson Independent School District (BISD) announces Rebekah Hinkle as principal of the Game Development Design School. Hinkle brings 25 years of experience in education to her new role, including 13 years as an administrator at the STEAM Academy at Stribling, where she most recently served as principal.
Hinkle played a critical role in transforming Stribling into a school of choice focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM). She led the school’s innovative and collaborative approach to project-based learning and served as an administrator on the leadership team when the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History recognized the school with the President’s Award in 2018. The award recognized Stribling for its innovation in education, its commitment to becoming a community of learners, and its belief that children’s education always comes first. Since joining BISD in 2002, she has served as a teacher, instructional coach, and administrator. She began her career as a high school Spanish teacher and is a two-time participant in Stanford University’s K12 Lab d.school training, which equips educators with design thinking strategies to drive innovation and student-centered learning in schools. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M University and a Master of Educational Leadership from Lamar University.
“Rebekah Hinkle is a dynamic, forward-thinking leader whose success at a STEAM-focused school of choice has prepared her to take on this exciting new opportunity,” said BISD Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “Her experience, passion for innovation, and commitment to student success will make a meaningful impact at Game Development Design School.”
“I am honored to become the principal of the Game Development Design School and serve students at the next level of their educational journey,” said Hinkle. “I look forward to partnering with teachers, students, and families to ensure our graduates are prepared to enter college and the workforce with the advanced academic, technology, and creative skills they need to succeed.”
Game Development Design School will host a campus meet-and-greet event for parents, students, and staff on Wednesday, June 11, from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
