BISD Names Katie Masteller Principal of Academy at Nola Dunn

Burleson Independent School District (BISD) announces Katie Masteller as principal of the Academy at Nola Dunn. Masteller brings 15 years of education experience to her new role, with 12 of those years dedicated to the Academy at Nola Dunn.

Since joining the Academy at Nola Dunn in 2013, Masteller has served in various leadership roles, most recently as assistant principal. She began her BISD career as a classroom teacher, quickly becoming the fourth-grade team lead and earning recognition as the campus Teacher of the Year in 2020. As the campus Math and Reading Specialist, she supported student achievement through targeted instruction and led professional learning communities to strengthen campus-wide practices. She also served as a mentor to new staff and student teaching candidates. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Education from Southern Methodist University.

“Katie Masteller is an impressive leader with a genuine passion for education,” said BISD Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “With her longstanding commitment to the Academy at Nola Dunn and established relationships within the school community, we are confident she will continue to be successful as principal.”

“I am truly excited for the opportunity to continue serving the students, families, and dedicated staff of the Academy at Nola Dunn—a place I have proudly called home for over a decade,” said Masteller. “ I look forward to working alongside a campus community that continually strives for excellence in all we do and inspires a love of learning in every student.”

Academy at Nola Dunn will host a campus meet-and-greet event for parents, students, and staff on Monday, June 16, from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
