BISD Celebrates the Grand Opening of the Burleson Higher Education Center

BISD Thanks Community for Supporting Student Education

February 23, 2023 - The Burleson Independent School District (BISD) celebrated the grand opening of the Burleson Higher Education Center at a special ceremony commemorating the completion of the final project of the BISD bond voters approved in May 2017.

The grand opening was held at the Burleson Higher Education Center, located at 517 SW Johnson Ave. It was attended by school officials, community leaders, the BISD Facilities Advisory Committee, and project teams.

The Burleson Higher Education Center is a partnership between Hill College and Texas Tech University, Burleson ISD, and the City of Burleson, providing opportunities for students to attend college and earn a bachelor’s degree in Burleson, Texas.

BISD Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson expressed his gratitude to the community for their support of the 2017 Bond and the dedication of the project teams who made the construction of the Higher Education Center possible.

“Through a partnership with Hill College and the City of Burleson, Burleson ISD was able to provide this incredible opportunity for our current and former students who wish to continue their studies right here in Burleson,” states Dr. Jimerson. “I’m grateful that our 2017 Facilities Advisory Committee recommended allocating financial resources to keeping this building useful.”

The grand opening ceremony also included remarks from Hill College President Dr. Thomas Mills as well as Burleson Mayor Chris Fletcher.
