April 28, 2022 – Two Burleson Independent School District (BISD) high schools rank among the nation’s best in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 Best High Schools ranking, placing Burleson High School and Centennial High School in the top 29% in the nation.

Burleson Centennial High School ranks nationally in the top 25% out of approximately 17,840 schools. Burleson High School ranks nationally in the top 29% out of approximately 17,840 schools. In Texas, both high schools rank in the top 21% out of 1,992 schools.

The top-ranked schools have a high rate of students who scored above expectations in math, science and reading state assessments, passed an array of college-level exams, and graduated in four years, according to U.S. News & World Report.

“It is a tremendous achievement to have both BHS and CHS recognized nationally as high-performing schools,” said BISD Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “Students in BISD continue to excel, and this recognition is evidence of our dedication to provide a quality education for all.”

The U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools analyzed data from nearly 24,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia to identify top-performing high schools based on six factors from three academic years (2016-17, 2017-18, and 2018-19): college readiness, state assessment proficiency and performance, college curriculum breadth, underserved student performance, and graduation rate.

“BISD is committed to developing high-quality academic programs,” said BISD Chief Academic Officer April Chiarelli. “This achievement is well-deserved recognition of our students and staff.”
