UPDATE: Statewide STAAR/EOC Disruption

As you know, TEA’s online testing platform partially failed across the state yesterday.  All of our tested students endured the stress of diligently preparing, sitting down to take, and, for most, completing the tests.  Some of our students, however, were forced to endure the added stress of trying to begin the tests only to discover they couldn’t connect to the online platform at all.  Others were frustrated by losing connection part way through.  Despite the added anxiety and disruption to instruction caused by the failures of TEA’s online testing platform, TEA told us yesterday evening that it will not cancel the remaining unfinished tests.  TEA says all tests must be completed.  Students who completed tests yesterday do not have to retake them.  For those who did not complete yesterday’s test, the new schedule is:

  • 4th and 7th Grade Writing: Thursday, April 8, 2021
  • English I: Tuesday, April 13, 2021
  • English II: Thursday, April 8, 2021 (as originally scheduled)

PLEASE NOTE: Students who began testing, only to lose connection part way through, will be allowed to resume where they left off, rather than start over.  TEA will not, however, allow these students additional time.  Students will resume the test at the point it was interrupted and have only the remaining allotted time.
