Additional Resource for Families: Free PBS Educational Programming

Dear BISD Families,

As you continue learning at home, we want to share information on an additional resource available to families.

The Texas Education Agency and Texas PBS partnered to provide educational programs tailored to Pre-K through high school students. This TEKS-aligned programming airs locally on PBS affiliate KERA each weekday during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please know: This is an additional resource available to families and is not required.

We encourage you to visit the Burleson ISD Library Media Centers website to learn more about PBS educational programming. The BISD Library Media Centers website also offers students opportunities for virtual field trips, podcasts, activities, and other virtual learning resources.

As students continue learning through the BISD Digital Learning platform, our goal is to help students master the remaining curriculum content with meaningful teacher feedback.

BISD continues to focus on grace instead of grades and will apply this philosophy to grading as well as semester exams. Our primary focus is on the content within our core subject areas.  Last week, BISD educators collaborated and agreed on a Pass/Fail grading plan for the 6th 6 weeks. Students who complete their assignments will receive a grade of 100. Students who do not complete their assignments will receive a grade of 69.

Information specific to each grade level is outlined here: Click to view grading guidelines

Please contact your student’s teacher or campus administration for further guidance.

Dear Burleson ISD Families,

We are all adapting to a new way of teaching and learning as we comply with government orders to close school buildings. Thanks to our hard-working teachers and staff, Burleson ISD launches its digital learning platform for students to connect and continue learning while our school buildings are closed.

Monday, April 6, at 8:00 am, students may begin working on assignments in BISD’s Digital Learning platform. Parents may access lesson plans and other learning resources. Students in grades 3-12 can access lessons on their Chromebooks through Google Classroom. Students in grades PK-2 can access lessons through this Digital Learning platform.

Thank you all, in advance, for your patience as BISD works with you to provide instruction in a new setting. Please note: the district's learning team continues to finalize the BISD Digital Learning Platform through the weekend in preparation for Monday. Students, feel free to contact your teachers if you have any questions. They are ready to support you!
