BISD Names Samantha Booher as Principal of Norwood Environmental Science Academy

June 12, 2023 - Burleson Independent School District (BISD) announces Samantha Booher as the Principal of Norwood Environmental Science Academy. With an impressive 11-year track record in education, including 4 years at Norwood, Booher brings expertise in early childhood education and instructional best practices to her new role.

Booher’s career in education began as a teacher at Norwood, where she established a strong foundation in early childhood education. Most recently serving as the Assistant Principal, Booher has made significant contributions to the school community, fostering relationships with students, staff, and families while helping Norwood thrive as a school of choice. Before her role as Assistant Principal, Booher served as the BISD elementary curriculum coordinator, overseeing the implementation of the English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) curriculum for grades pre-K through 5 across the district. Booher worked closely with teachers, providing valuable coaching and support, and led professional development initiatives to enhance instructional practices. Booher also helped promote the innovative approach to learning at STEAM Middle School while serving as the campus instruction and design coach, AVID coordinator, and reading and math campus specialist. Booher's dedication and commitment to student success have been recognized, earning her the honor of Norwood Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2015 and the STEAM Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Christian University and a Master of Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. 

“Mrs. Booher demonstrates an unwavering passion for Norwood Elementary, accompanied by a thorough understanding of the campus,” said BISD Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “Her selection was unanimous. She possesses a strong determination and is fully prepared to embrace her new role as Principal.”  

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to sustain and grow the relationships, academic growth, and family-oriented culture at Norwood,” said Booher. “Thank you to the Board of Trustees and Dr. Jimerson for the opportunity to serve as Principal.”
