BISD Names Courtney McClendon Principal of STEAM Middle School

June 14, 2021 – Burleson Independent School District (BISD) announced Courtney McClendon as STEAM Middle School Principal at the June 14 board meeting.

A Burleson High School alum, McClendon brings 10 years of education experience to her new role. Most recently serving as Dean of Instruction at a junior high school, McClendon taught advanced placement chemistry and was a science instructional specialist prior to becoming an administrator. Named the 2017 Secondary Teacher of the Year in her previous district, McClendon holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of North Texas, a master’s degree in educational leadership from University of Texas at Arlington, and is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership from Tarleton State University.  

“We are excited to welcome Mrs. McClendon to BISD as the STEAM Middle School Principal,” said BISD Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “She is sharp, and we believe she will be a great fit at STEAM Middle School. And, she is a Burleson High School graduate!” 

McClendon looks forward to returning to BISD as the STEAM Middle School Principal.

STEAM Middle School will host a meet-and-greet event at the campus Monday, June 21. Staff are invited to join in welcoming her to the campus from 3:00 to 3:45 p.m. Parents and students are invited to meet Principal McClendon from 4:00 to 4:45 p.m.
