May 16, 2023 - Burleson Independent School District (BISD) announces Candice Cook as the new Principal of Hughes Middle School. With 13 years of education experience in BISD, including six years as an administrator at an elementary and middle school within the district, Cook brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role.
Having most recently served as the principal at Norwood Environmental Science Academy, Cook played a pivotal role in transforming Norwood Elementary into a sought-after school of choice. Through her leadership, Norwood has successfully developed a specialized curriculum that integrated science and environmental influences, offering students real-world applications. Prior to her role at Norwood, Cook served as the academic assistant principal at STEAM Middle School, BISD's first middle school of choice. Cook holds a bachelor's degree from Texas Wesleyan University and a master's degree from Stephen F. Austin University.
"Mrs. Cook's unwavering dedication to students, staff, and families, combined with her exceptional leadership skills, sets her apart as a tremendous leader," said BISD Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. "Her proven track record of success within BISD speaks volumes, and I have no doubt that Mrs. Cook will continue to inspire growth and achievement at Hughes Middle School."
Cook shared her excitement, stating, "I feel blessed with the opportunity to work alongside parents, students, and staff at Hughes Middle School! With high expectations and collaboration, we will continue to grow and achieve."
