BISD Names Dr. Yvonne Hensley Principal of Kerr Middle School

March 8, 2021 – The Burleson Independent School District (BISD) introduced Dr. Yvonne Hensley as the Kerr Middle School (KMS) Principal at the March 8 board meeting.

Dr. Hensley has spent nearly 10 of her 24 years in education with BISD, most recently serving as the KMS Academic Assistant Principal. A former teacher and coach, Dr. Hensley was also a secondary curriculum coordinator for BISD prior to becoming a campus administrator. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas Wesleyan University, a master’s degree from University of North Texas, and a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Wesleyan University. 

“Dr. Hensley’s proven leadership combined with her faithfulness to the students in our district will ensure Kerr Middle School is successful,” said BISD Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “Dr. Hensley brings a wealth of knowledge in curriculum and instruction to her new role, and we look forward to watching her continued success as Principal at Kerr.” 

“The Kerr story is one I am proud to be a part of, and as principal, I will work diligently to ensure Kerr Middle School is a place where everyone knows they belong,” said Dr. Hensley. “As an educator that calls Burleson "home," I'm privileged to continue to serve BISD in this new role.”
