Burleson ISD & Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South Collaborate on COVID-19 Response Plans
August 4, 2020 - The Burleson Independent School District (BISD) Board of Trustees unanimously approved a partnership with Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South at the July 27 board meeting to assist in the development of district COVID-19 health protocols and response plans.
Through this partnership, Texas Health Huguley will collaborate with BISD to help the district plan to open buildings as safely as possible.
Since schools across Texas closed in March, Texas Health Huguley has provided much-needed expertise to BISD. Through its continued partnership, BISD will be well-prepared for health emergencies that may arise.
“Texas Health Huguley has been a tremendous resource to BISD, assisting and providing guidance with expert advice based on current information,” said BISD Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “Partnering with Texas Health Huguley enables BISD to better-facilitate cleaning and social distancing protocols that are safe and effective.”
In addition to reviewing the district’s reopening plan and safety protocols, Texas Health Huguley will use the health system’s most-current trend data to update and make ongoing recommendations to BISD officials regarding responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are thankful to Texas Health Huguley for their continued partnership with BISD,” Jimerson said. “As information changes, it will be of paramount importance to stay up-to-date on best practices.”
Schools in BISD span Tarrant and Johnson counties, and the partnership with Texas Health Huguley will serve as an additional resource in conjunction with the guidance BISD receives from local health authorities from the City of Burleson and Johnson and Tarrant counties.
“Texas Health Huguley and Burleson Independent School District have a strong, long-standing partnership within our community. We are proud to collaborate with our friends at BISD to provide expert medical guidance regarding masking, safe distancing and infection control practices in coordination with the school’s safe return initiatives. In addition, we are pleased to announce that Dr. Amanda Aiken, Emergency Department physician, has accepted the role of medical director for the BISD. Dr. Aiken, along with our clinical leaders, are passionate about providing a safe return to the classroom for all students and staff.”
