Burleson ISD High Schools Among U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools 2021
Burleson and Burleson Centennial high schools rank in top 34% of high schools nationwide
April 28, 2021 – Two Burleson Independent School District (BISD) high schools rank among the nation’s best in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 Best High Schools ranking, placing Burleson High School and Centennial High School in the top 34% in the nation.
Burleson High School ranks nationally in the top 27% out of approximately 17,860 schools. Burleson Centennial High School ranks nationally in the top 34% out of approximately 17,860 schools. In Texas, both high schools rank in the top 34% out of 1,524 schools.
The top-ranked schools are those whose students demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math and reading state assessments, earned qualifying scores in an array of college-level exams, and graduated in high proportions, according to U.S. News & World Report.
“It is a tremendous achievement to have both BHS and CHS recognized nationally as high-performing schools,” said BISD Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “Students in BISD continue to excel, and this recognition is evidence of our dedication to provide a quality education for all.”
The U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools analyzed data from nearly 24,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia to identify top-performing high schools based on six factors for the 2018-2019 academic year: college readiness, reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, college curriculum breadth, underserved student performance, and graduation rate.
“BISD is committed to developing high-quality academic programs,” said BISD Chief Academic Officer April Chiarelli. “This achievement is well-deserved recognition of our students and staff.”
