Burleson ISD Names Julianne Penix as Centennial High School Head Girls Track Coach

May 11, 2020 – The Burleson Independent School District (BISD) announced Julianne Penix as the new Centennial High School Head Girls Track Coach at the May 11 board meeting.

With 10 years of education and coaching experience, Penix brings district, area, and regional success to her new role at Centennial High School. Most recently serving as the Head Track and Girls Athletic Coordinator for Arlington Heights High School, Penix led the volleyball program to a co-district championship and coached area, regional, and state track qualifiers. She holds a bachelor of arts in English from Texas A&M University.

“Mrs. Penix is an accomplished leader, and we welcome her to Burleson ISD,” said BISD Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “We believe her experience and success will be a tremendous addition to Centennial High School’s coaching staff and track program.”

Penix was the head track and cross country coach at Arlington Martin High School when BISD Athletic Director Kevin Ozee was the district’s athletic director. During her five years as head of the track and field program, Penix coached district champions and regional and state qualifiers.

“Coach Penix took the program to a different level by increasing the wins and significantly growing the track program,” said Ozee. “Her work ethic, ability to relate with athletes, and impeccable leadership make her a star in our profession.”

“I am thankful for the opportunity to work for Burleson ISD, and I look forward to carrying on the Spartan tradition and successes,” said Penix. “After interviewing with campus and district administrators, I knew Centennial was the place for me, and I am excited to join the Spartan family.”

As the daughter of retired football coach and Texas Hall of Honor Member Ronnie Gage, Ozee said, “Juli has set her path of success, and she knows how to coach and how to win—it’s in her blood.”

Penix and husband Sean have 2 daughters. Parents and students will be invited to a celebratory meet-and-greet event in August.
