BISD Names Jennifer Mendez Principal of STEAM Academy at Stribling

Burleson Independent School District (BISD) announces Jennifer Mendez as principal of the STEAM Academy at Stribling.  Mendez brings 27 years of educational experience in BISD to her new role, with 19 of those years dedicated to students, families, and staff at Stribling.

Mendez has been the assistant principal at Stribling for the past six years, playing a key role in its success as a school of choice focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). She began her career as a speech language assistant at Stribling and taught pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and special education during her 13 years on campus. She also served as a reading specialist, teacher, and assistant principal at Norwood Elementary before returning to Stribling as assistant principal. Throughout her leadership, she served as the instructional leader, facilitated professional learning communities, and coordinated professional development to support student and teacher success. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Texas and a Master of Educational Administration from Tarleton State University.

“Jennifer Mendez’s proven leadership, collaborative spirit, and commitment to student achievement has had a profound impact on the Stribling community,” said BISD Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “We are excited to see her success continue as principal.”

“I am honored to serve as the next principal at STEAM Academy at Stribling Elementary, the very place where I began my career 27 years ago,” said Mendez “It is a privilege to continue supporting our incredible students, families, and staff while strengthening our partnership with the community. Together, we will continue to pursue excellence in education and all we do. I’m excited to begin this new school year and look forward to the opportunities to come.”

STEAM Academy at Stribling will host a campus meet-and-greet event for parents, students, and staff on Wednesday, June 18, from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
