What to do when you are moving to Burleson with a special education student?

We are so happy to have you here!

If you have not already looked at the special education programs we offer at BISD, you can review them here.

It may also be helpful to plug in your new address school search page so you can see which campus you will be zoned for.

First, go to New Student Online Enrollment and complete the online enrollment steps.

While completing enrollment, you will be asked to indicate if the student requires special education services.

When enrollment is processed, the administration alerts the special education department of an incoming student, and we will reach out to schedule a meeting with you. We can reach out to the previous school to obtain records once enrollment is complete.

To enroll your student, you will need the following documents:

  • Parent/Legal Guardian’s Government-Issued Photo Identification
  • PROOF OF RESIDENCY
    • *If you have not signed a lease on your new residence, it is suggested that you wait to enroll until you have the lease.
  • Student’s Certified Birth Certificate (ORDER A CERTIFIED BIRTH CERTIFICATE AT TEXAS.GOV [ESPAÑOL])
  • Student’s Immunization Record (must show child's name)
  • Student’s Social Security Card

For help with the enrollment process you can reach out to Heather Hess at Heather.Hess@bisdmail.net

If you have a copy of the student's latest IEP, you can email this over to Chelsea.Dolen@bisdmail.net while enrollment is being processed. This can be reviewed by the special education coordinators to help determine program placement sooner.
