Hurst/Renfro Property Community Engagement
Page Update: In July 2017, BISD shared the results of the Hurst/Renfro community survey with Burleson residents on this website. Since that time, the district shifted its focus to the bond projects approved in May 2017 and tabled discussions concerning the Hurst/Renfro property. In short, the bond projects are now the district’s primary focus.
BISD is committed to keeping the community informed about this property and will communicate updates here as they develop. For more information on BISD bond projects, visit bonds.burlesonisd.net.
“After receiving feedback from our community, we are looking at ways to amend the initial proposal. This summer, we will engage our neighbors in a discussion of the amended proposal and how we should move forward. Our goal is to put a longtime plan in place to control the development of the property to ensure it’s compatible with campuses and neighbors nearby. In so doing, we are trying to be good stewards of the resources for which we are responsible. By having a good development plan in place, with restrictions and covenants, we ensure that top notch companies will want to invest in our city in ways that conform to our goals as a district.” – Shawn Minor, Burleson ISD Board of Trustees
Thank you for your interest in our schools and your participation in this survey. Your feedback is invaluable and will assist the district in creating a land plan for the Hurst/Renfro property. Land plans hold developers accountable to high standards of development and can help manage population growth and traffic patterns around our schools. Together, we will realize a plan for this property that is in concert with the community’s ideals and brings greater value to our neighbors as we build opportunity for our children’s education.
The survey is closed and the district has shared the results of the survey with the land planner. Click here to view the community survey results.
