In using Study Island in our computer lab, Patti is developing independent and confidant computer users. At the same time, her class of second graders are engaged in a program that gives them objectives on which they can work on their skills in a TAKS format.

Mary had students create a floor plan of their "wish" room, in KidPix and figure area and perimeter. They printed the floor plans and posted them in the hall with the dimensions and the area listed.

Mrs. Bushman uses technology with her students for several reasons. The first is to build confidence, comfort, and competence. The second purpose is to let students work at their own pace on TAKS formatted programs that reinforce their skills.

Instead of writing research papers, she taught them how to do power point. They learned how to animate, attach sounds, create backgrounds, and insert pictures. The kids loved it and the presentations were AWESOME!

Tina created an online course for a book study of Genius Denied, a book about gifted education. She created response opportunities and many creative elements that make the course interesting and interactive. Great Job!!

I had an 8th grade L.A. teacher, Heather Sanders in my Computer Lab this week. She used podcasting to make learning fun for her classes. They can log on and listen to the vocabulary words for that week and the assignment they had to do for that day.

On Monday, March 21, 2006, I was working in the computer lab at Kerr updating student computers. I had the privilege to be in the lab while Mrs. Sanders was teaching a class on Mark Twain. Mrs. Sanders played her blog to give the students the directions.

Mrs. Bohon created a power point presentation which teaches estimation, and probability. The lesson is exciting and fun!!!! Just like the TV show!

Mrs. Tutle is at the forefront of all new technology. She has a wonderful new feature to her wonderful website, which she will help keep parents abreast of their child's reading. The students are motivated and excited to read their stories on the computer.

Brandon created multiple TAKS review games using his computer and classroom TV that he has used extensively during the past several months. He shared many of the games with other teachers throughout the Social Studies department.

Ms. Williamson has devoted many hours in keeping her school Web site available for students and parents to stay abreast of assignments and her lesson plans. Her site not only has the course syllabus, but also additional practice sessions and interactive

Mr. Shaha has kept his school web site as an active tool for instruction. He keeps his course syllabus for the six weeks, all assignments, class notes for each day, test reviews and general announcements for due dates.

Mr. Austin has created several computer based TAKS games and the entire Department has been using them for TAKS lessons.

Mrs. Milburn brought both of her classes into the computer lab and groups used a PowerPoint template to show the progress of plants growing in different types of soil. The students had taken pictures of their plants throughout the experiment (30 days) and posted them.
Diana Waters	BHS	9-12	Arts
She replaced 2 dinosaur age computers with 4 brand new Dell GX 620's. These computers have allowed the Art IV students to burn CD's and create electronic portfolios of their artwork, thereby bringing them into the 21st century for scholarship and job applications.

Mary initiated a videoconference with Joyce Baldwin at The Academy so that Joyce's TAG students could teach Frazier's fifth graders how to do Hands-on Algebra.

Joyce participated in a videoconference with Mary Tune at Frazier. Joyce's 5th grade TAG students taught the 5th graders at Frazier how to do Hands-on Algebra through the use of videoconferencing.
