West Nile Virus Information

Taylor Parents,

With the recent concern over the West Nile Virus in our area, we wanted to make you aware of the way Taylor Elementary will be responding to such concerns.  First of all, no student at Taylor Elementary will be allowed outside before 9:30 am until we are advised that it is safe to do so.  Students at Taylor will be allowed to bring mosquito repellent to school in the form creme or wipes.  The students will be responsible for applying the creme themselves.  The students should use the repellent only for themselves, it is not to be shared with other students.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call the front office and we will be happy to assist you.

***Taylor Elementary is a latex-free campus.  Due to allergies, latex balloons and other materials are not allowed.  Thank you for assisting us in protecting our students and staff.***

**When bringing food to parties or special events at Taylor, the food must be store-bought.  We are unable to allow home-baked goods for distribution to our students.

School Hours

Building Opens:  7:05

Breakfast Served:  7:05-7:30

Please arrive by 7:30 to eat and arrive in class before 7:45.  If a bus arrives late, students will be served.  If students have not finished breakfast by 7:35, they will be allowed to take it to the classroom to eat.  It is not uncommon for students to do this.  We want our students to be fed and ready to learn.  If you prefer that your child does not do this, please be sure to allow adequate time when dropping them off for them to have breakfast.  If they arrive a little late and before the kitchen has closed breakfast, they can pick up a Take It to the Classroom Meal and go directly to class.  Nutrition is so important for your child's learning.

First Bell:  7:35

Teachers pick up students in the gym to begin the instructional day.

Tardy Bell:  7:45

Students are expected to be in the classroom and ready to learn before the tardy bell rings.  Students are counted tardy if they are not in the classroom by this time.

Report Student Absence:  Call before 8:30
Dismissal:  2:55

If there is a need to change dismissal arrangements for your student, please be sure to contact the school no later than 2:30.  This will allow sufficient time to make dismissal adjustments to asure your student is where they need to be.  There are times when an emergency arrives, but please try to plan ahead when possible.
