BISD Welcomes Valerie Calhoun as Principal of Stribling Elementary

Valerie Calhoun began her education career 22 years ago in Charleston, South Carolina. She has taught in grades Kindergarten through fifth. Her undergraduate degree from UTA is Exercise and Sports Physiology with a minor in Elementary Education. She is a proud graduate from The Citadel with her M.Ed. in Reading.
Many of her teaching years were in Summerville, South Carolina. Seven years ago her husband, Richard, retired from the United States Air Force, and they moved back to Texas. She has been the Assistant Principal at Hajek Elementary since it opened its doors in August 2008.
Valerie and her husband Rich have two sons. Logan is a sophomore at Centennial High and Walker is a sixth grader at KERR.
She is thrilled to be a Stribling Star. The legacy of this wonderful school is one of Exemplary staff, parents and students!
