BURLESON, Texas – (May 13, 2019) – The Burleson Independent School District (BISD) announces Dena Schimming as Principal of Hughes Middle School. Schimming was announced at the May 13 board meeting.
Schimming has nearly 15 years of education experience, three of which have been in BISD as Principal of Frazier Elementary. Before serving as principal of Frazier, Schimming was a secondary teacher and administrator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Texas at Arlington, a masters in education administration from Concordia University, and is currently earning a doctorate in education administration from Tarleton State University.
“Mrs. Schimming is an accomplished leader who has made a tremendous impact on our students and school community,” said BISD Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “We look forward to seeing Dena combine her leadership experience with her background in secondary education to succeed at Hughes Middle School.”
“I am excited to continue my administrative journey,” said Schimming. “My new role enables me to continue working with the students and families I hold so dear to my heart, while allowing me to work with additional families in the community.”
BISD will host a special “Meet and Greet” for Schimming in the BISD Boardroom on Tuesday, May 14. Staff are invited to join in welcoming her to the campus from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Parents, students, and community members are invited to meet Principal Schimming from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.
