DISNEY TOUR 2012
March 8-15, 2012
ROUTE MAP (for those following in personal vehicles) Tour Stops & Timing
Tour Rules, Duties, & Responsibilities and Packing Guide
When we travel and perform in public, we not only represent the Spartan Regiment, but the school, our families, and the community. It is very important that we maintain the band’s reputation and image as being one of excellence. Always conduct yourself in a way that will reflect only credit to the Spartan Regiment, Centennial High School, and Burleson ISD.
One person, “one rotten apple,” can bring discredit to an entire organization.
TRAVEL RULES (from Band Handbook)
· All school and band rules are in effect when the band travels.
· Must have a current NOTARIZED* Travel/Medical Release Form on file with the Director.
· No one other than a band member or chaperone may be with the band when it travels or is performing
· Follow the below rules for bus riding when riding a BISD Bus or Chartered bus.
Bus Rules & Procedures
· When buses are provided, all performers will ride the bus both to and from the event.
§ Exceptions to this rule require a written personal request by the parents prior to the event. Even then, the final decision is left to the directors. Whenever a student is to be picked- up from an out of town performance site, the parent or guardian is required to “sign-out” the student and accept full responsibility for his/her welfare.
· Students will be in their assigned seats on time for roll call.
· Students may not change seats after roll call.
· When sharing a seat, boys sit with boys; girls sit with girls. No exceptions.
· Students will remain silent from the time they board the buses until we leave the school parking lot. Conversation may then resume for the remainder of the trip, but at a low volume however.
· When the bus stops or is entering a major highway, there is to be NO TALKING.
· BISD prohibits loud talking, foul or abusive language, standing in aisles, or sitting on the backs or arms of seats while on buses.
· Hands feet, arms, legs and head must remain inside the bus.
· No food or drink is allowed on buses unless approved by the directors.
· Absolutely no glass containers are allowed on any bus.
· Hair spray, perfume, etc. may not be applied or sprayed while on buses.
· Deposit ALL trash in the trash bags or cans on each bus.
· MP3 players, DVD players, etc. may be played, but only with headphones.
· No part of the uniform may be taken off while on the bus unless authorized by the band directors.
· Be thoughtful, be friendly, be courteous, be SAFE!
· Students may not sing or yell on buses unless authorized by the directors at specific times. These times will be rare.
· All instruments will be loaded onto the buses by the individual students. Each student will share the seat with his/her instrument.
· All percussion instruments, baritone saxophones, and tubas will be loaded onto the instrument truck, not the buses.
· Noise making devices are not appropriate for use on the buses.
· Students will show respect to all chaperones and their authority.
· Neither the CHS Band nor CHS are responsible for lost or stolen items on trips.
· Do not bring more than what you need on the trip, especially money.
· Loud and boisterous behavior by band members when in public is not in the best interest of the band’s image and mission!
· Additional rules may be added for certain trips. The rules will depend on the location and duration of the trip.
*only for spring trips
TRIP SPECIFIC RULES· All trip participants will wear the designated “Tour Shirt” each day of the trip.
· All students will be in groups of 4 or more the entire time they are on the trip.
· Swimsuits may be worn when visiting the resort pool or Disney Water Parks, but must be appropriate. The directors and chaperones may require students to change if a swimsuit is deemed inappropriate. If a student prefers to swim with a shirt, they may wear an old “show shirt” or other CHS shirt instead of the “Tour Shirt” while swimming.
· Male students may not enter the room(s) of female students or vice versa, unless an adult chaperone is present.
· Students may not do anything that may bring harm to themselves or to others.
· All students are to report to their designated chaperone at the time(s) determined by his/her chaperone. The Chaperones will be assigned before the trip and will not change, unless the director deems it necessary.
· All students are to be in their rooms at designated curfew. After curfew, NO student is to be out of their room for ANY reason.
· The Director shall have the final say in the interpretation of the rules on the trip, and will set all meeting locations, curfews, and maintain discipline for all in an equal manner to help insure the safety of all trip participants.
· All prescription and over-the-counter medication is to be turned in to your chaperone the day of departure. When it is needed, the chaperone will dispense the medication.
Discipline procedures
Violation of the rules will result disciplinary action. Students may be disciplined in several ways ranging from a reprimand to suspension from activities to being sent home, based on the severity of the offense. Students sent home will be flown at their parent’s expense. Students that commit a crime (shoplifting, vandalism, etc.) will be turned over to the proper authorities and their parents will be notified. This trip is a school sponsored activity, and therefore, BISD school officials will be responsible for maintaining discipline and insuring the safety of all. ALL serious discipline matters will be dealt with by the director or the CHS Administrator on tour. It should be noted that disciplinary action may be taken by the CHS Administration when the student returns home.
Items to bring:
*Students may have shaving cream, but it is only to be use for the purpose of shaving. A gel-based cream is recommended.
**Don’t
bring too much cash. I recommend pre-paid Visa/Mastercard cards. Some Boosters
can help you with the best route to go here! See list below for approximate
amount to bring.
Students will need money for meals and for any souvenirs they may wish to purchase.** All total, money will be needed for Breakfast and Lunch on the way; 5 Breakfasts, 5 Lunches, and 5 Dinners while at Disney; and Lunch, Dinner, and Breakfast on the way home. Students/Chaperones who purchase Meal Coupons may eliminate the appropriate amount needed that is covered by the meal coupons. Because they will need cash to pay for meals on the way home, instructing students to budget accordingly will be very important. Some parents may wish to have chaperones hold their child’s money while on the trip for safety
