| Placement in
concert ensembles in Burleson ISD will be based
first on the BISD Bands Minimum Skills
Expectations [Beginning Fall 2010].
After determining skill level, students will
undergo an additional audition for chair.
Meeting minimum skills for a specific level does
NOT guarantee a spot in the ensemble for
that level, nor does not meeting the minimum
standard prevent membership in a group. Building
a balanced instrumentation for each band that
will compete in UIL Concert & Sight
Reading will be the main priority.

progress through Burleson ISD’s Band Programs.
These standards should be used as starting
points for each level, and the goal students in
the previous level should strive to achieve.

level’s sight reading exercise with no mistakes
in 70% of the measures. For example, if the
exercise has 20 measures, the student should not
make mistakes in more than 14 measures.
Scale Mastery - no more than 2 mistakes per
major scale and no more than 4 mistakes on the
chromatic scale. |
