Placement in concert ensembles in Burleson ISD will be based first on the BISD Bands Minimum Skills Expectations [Beginning Fall 2010]. After determining skill level, students will undergo an additional audition for chair. Meeting minimum skills for a specific level does NOT guarantee a spot in the ensemble for that level, nor does not meeting the minimum standard prevent membership in a group. Building a balanced instrumentation for each band that will compete in UIL  Concert & Sight Reading will be the main priority.

Concert ensembles/band classes at CHS:

  • Varsity: Wind Ensemble [1st Period]
  • Non-Varsity: Symphonic Band [2nd Period]
  • Sub Non-Varsity: Concert Band [3rd Period (2012-13)]
  • Non-Competitive/Developmental: Instrumental Techniques [not yet needed]

BURLESON ISD MINIMUM SKILLS EXPECTATIONS

Minimum skill expectations are not meant to exclude interested students from participating in band, but will be used to show what skills students should possess as they progress through Burleson ISD’s Band Programs.
