Burleson ISD Voters Approve District Bond Package

Tax ratification referendum also approved

BURLESON, Texas – (May 6, 2017) – Unofficial results show the voters of Burleson Independent School District (BISD) approved the District’s $85 million bond package referendum. The package will provide a new middle school and renovations to existing schools to manage growth, in addition to a multipurpose facility and collaboration space at Burleson High School. Unofficial results also show voters approved the Tax Ratification Election (TRE).

“What a victory for our students!” Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson said. “Our students will benefit from this bond referendum for years to come and we are grateful that the voters believe in and support the future of our students.”

The comprehensive bond package was put together by a volunteer facilities advisory committee comprised of parents, grandparents, teachers and business leaders from across the BISD community. The facilities advisory committee toured schools, met with teachers and principals, and evaluated the needs of the district as well as projected growth patterns.

“Now we must focus on the future,” added Dr. Jimerson. “We do not take the tasks ahead of us lightly, and we are ready to start on the real work of planning and executing these projects. BISD has a bright future, and we are proud our community trusts us to take our school district through this season of growth and achievement.”

Professional demographers predict 2,100 new students will call BISD home by 2027 – that’s over a 20% increase. The bond package gives the district the ability to ensure that every student receives the quality education for which BISD is known.
