Beverly Powell steps down to focus on race for Texas State Senate, District 10


BURLESON, Texas – (Oct. 24, 2017) – Burleson Independent School District (BISD) Trustee Beverly Powell announced her resignation from the BISD School Board at Monday night’s board meeting. After serving 10 years as a trustee, Powell announced that she will resign to focus on her race for Texas State Senate, District 10.


“Beverly is a true advocate for education, and it has been a privilege to serve alongside her,”  said Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “She has played an integral role in helping students graduate college and career ready by bringing more education choices to the district and increasing advanced academic opportunities for students, all while helping the district manage growth.”


According to Burleson ISD Board Policy, Powell will continue to serve in her role until the school board selects a replacement. The next election for Place 6 on the BISD school board will take place during the May 2018 election.
