Burleson ISD Introduces School Text Messaging Alerts

Improving communication is always a priority for Burleson ISD. At the start of the year, we surveyed parents to learn how parents prefer to receive communications from campuses and the district. The overwhelming majority preferred email communication followed by SMS or text messages.

In response to significant parent feedback, Burleson ISD will begin to use text messages to keep parents informed and updated on school events and your child’s day-to-day educational experience.

Some examples of how we may use text messaging:

  • Security and Safety Alerts
  • Inclement weather updates including school closures and delays
  • Event Reminders: Picture or dress days, holiday reminders, school vaccinations
  • End of six weeks, grades available

To make sure your contact information is current so that you receive text messages, or to opt-out of this feature, follow the instructions on how to update your information in Skyward.

On November 6, a test message will be sent to all parents. This will also include an opt-out option via text.

We believe that this new form of communication will provide a convenient method of receiving school information. Thank you in advance for your patience as we begin to implement this feature.
