Burleson Nissan and Burleson Honda partner for “Strive to Drive! TX” Initiative to Reward Students for Perfect Attendance
BURLESON, Texas (Aug. 30, 2017) – Burleson Independent School District (BISD) students have the opportunity to win a free car, courtesy of Burleson Nissan and Burleson Honda, just for going to school. As part of the “Strive to Drive! TX” student attendance initiative, two high school students in BISD will win a car.
Burleson Nissan and Burleson Honda partnered with Strive to Drive TX to encourage students to attend class, which has a direct correlation on academic performance.
Each six weeks, students in grades 9-12 who are at school on time, every day, all day, will receive a ticket for a drawing. Students from Burleson High School, Centennial High School, Burleson Collegiate High School, and Crossroads High School, who meet the requirements, are eligible to win. In May, ten finalists are drawn. Each finalist receives a key but only one will start the car.
“It is with extreme gratitude that we continue this tremendous partnership with Burleson Nissan and Burleson Honda,” said Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson. “Attendance is a vital factor in student success, and while we work to keep lessons relevant, this program will further incentivize coming to class.”
How does the Strive to Drive TX program work?
The contest begins August 21, 2017. Grading periods are as follows, with the first and last grading periods altered for the drawing:
