At the September 10 school board meeting, Burleson ISD Construction Manager Cliff Holden provided an overview on the district’s four concurrent projects.
Hughes Middle School
The new parent drop-off and pick-up drive, and parking addition is complete. This provides better traffic flow control before and after school.
Phase II: The remodeled area where administration offices will now be located is on schedule. Completion of this area will bring all administration offices back to the confines of the building. Schedule is on track for October move in.
Phase III will begin as phase II is complete. This includes a demo of other areas for new construction in those areas to begin.
Kerr Middle School at Hidden Creek
Approximately 90% of all hard surface parking and driveways are complete, allowing more access to the property.
West classroom wing: Level 2 ICF walls are 50% complete and plans to pour the concrete into the ICF walls up to the roof level will begin this week, weather permitting.
East classroom wing: Level 2 steel structure is 75% complete and preparations for concrete on second floor will begin this week, weather permitting.
Fine Arts: Ready for slab to be poured as soon as we have a forecast of a 5 day rain-free schedule.
Athletics: Grade beam pour complete. MEP will begin to prepare for slab pour later this week, weather permitting.
BHS Collaboration Space
Walls and columns are being completed with tile finish.
Ceiling lighting installation to begin this month and furniture has been ordered.
Construction is anticipated to be complete by end of October.
BHS Multipurpose Facility
Foundation work to begin in preparation for steel structure.
Trustees approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price for the Burleson High Multipurpose Building Site and Structural Package.
