At the June 11 school board meeting, Burleson ISD’s Executive Director of Facilities Regi Brackin and Construction Manager Cliff Holden provided an overview on the district’s bond projects.
Hughes Middle School
Concrete drives will begin to pour the week of June 11 and are expected to be complete by end of June: east and west parking lots, fire lanes and drives. The drive off Murphy Street will have added parking with a stack lane and two lanes for parent dropoff and pickup.
Portable classrooms are set up to allow 12 classes to be temporarily moved out of the main building during construction. Demolition of existing administration and classroom areas is ongoing in preparation for construction on the office area, library and classrooms to the east of the library. Phase II construction begins the week of July 5.
Lockers in the hallways have been removed and light fixtures that can be repurposed are being removed and prepared for reinstallation.
Phase II demolition is underway in preparation for the construction company to begin July 2018. This area includes the office area, library and classrooms to the west of the library.
Kerr Middle School at Hidden Creek
Site utilities: Sanitary, storm and water supply systems are nearly complete: 95%, 85% and 80% respectively.
Geothermal Wells: Of the 534 wells on the project, 45% have been drilled and 2 of 13 fields have been manifolded.
Paving operations have begun on the north side fire lane.
Improvements at Hidden Creek Parkway at the project’s west entrance has started.
Underground raceways: light poles, feeder conduits and low voltage and date raceways are being installed.
Building foundation: 57% of the piles have been installed. Area B, C and D grade beam form work has begun, with 60% of Area A beams placed.
Structural Steel: Material for floor structure over crawl space has been delivered and staged on the practice field. Crane will soon be assembled onsite to begin floor structure.
Burleson High School Collaboration Space
Renovations for the collaboration space at Burleson High School are expected to begin July 2018.
