Mr. William M. "Bill Stribling

William M. "Bill" Stribling was born in Hopkins County  near Sulphur Springs, Texas.

He graduated from 
Sulphur Springs High School 
in May of 1940.

 

Mr. Stribling served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. His unit fought in a number of battles including the Battle of the Bulge.

 

Battle of the Bulge

The Battle of the Bulge was the last German offensive of World War II. It was launched at the end of 1944 in an attempt to divide the British and American forces and retake the seaport of Antwerp, in Belgium. Shown here are German troops.
 

Texas A&M University    He holds a bachelors and masters degree from A&M University at Commerce.  He was a classroom teacher and principal before being elected Superintendent of Schools. 

Mr. Stribling was a superintendent for twenty-nine years, in four different school districts of Texas.  He retired as superintendent of Burleson ISD in June of 1980. 

He enjoys traveling, reading and doing volunteer work.  He is a member of Burleson Lions Club, Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce, Johnson County Crime Stoppers, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burleson Area American Association of Retired Persons, and Burleson Area Retired Teachers Association.

He was honored by being named Citizen of the Year in Frisco, Mt. Vernon and Burleson.  In 1993, he was named Volunteer of the Year by the City of Burleson.

 

Bill and his wife, Joyce, 
celebrated their 
Golden Wedding Anniversary 
on July 15, 2000.
 

 

They have
 four grandchildren.

 

 

The have two sons,  Dr. Danny Stribling of College Station, Texas, and
Randy Stribling of Little Rock, Arkansas. 
 

Mr. Stribling stated that if he had his professional life to live over, he would want to be a member of the teaching profession in the public schools of Texas.
